Guidelines for Women’s Wilderness Weekend Scholarships

Scholarship Application

  • The scholarship application period begins after the prior weekend ends and runs until the Friday two weeks before the weekend.  Applications MUST be postmarked by that Friday.
  • Applicants request a scholarship from the contact person (listed on the form), stating how much of a scholarship they need and why.
  • The contact person records the date received, the applicant’s name, address, phone number, email, amount requested, and reasons for scholarship request.
  • The applicant will be notified of any award after the scholarship deadline, which is the Friday two weeks before the weekend.
  • The applicant may send in their registration without payment with a note stating they have applied for a scholarship. After scholarships are awarded the applicant will pay the difference between the registration fee and the scholarship award.
  • An applicant is eligible to receive one scholarship per twelve month period. Scholarship committee members and their relatives are not eligible to apply for scholarship funds.
  • A scholarship is only valid for the weekend following the application. If an applicant is unable to attend that weekend, they may reapply for another weekend after contacting the scholarship committee member listed on the form.
  • Scholarship money available is determined by the amount of donations, sales of merchandise, and the funds from the basket drawing. All scholarship award money not used for the weekend will be returned to the scholarship fund.
  • The scholarship committee consists of at least two people.
